Bridget’s bedroom:

Bridget’s bedroom had become a “floor-drobe” with clothes and shoes all over the floor.   Bridget had switched jobs and worked from home so lots of clothes were no longer needed.

How I helped:

  • Decluttered clothes no longer needed
  • Created space in wardrobe & drawers for current clothes
  • Categorised large jewellery collection into ear rings, necklaces and sets
  • Sorted and found homes for all items on all the floor

After I left…

Bridget’s wardrobe doors and drawers shut properly, the floor was clear and the room felt bright and airy. Bridget was very happy with her organised bedroom and it felt like a burden had been lifted from her shoulders.

“The flat is looking great and I feel better and happier with the flat finally starting to feel like home again. Things have a place now and like my bedroom I know that it will be easy to keep it like this. Oh…. And the joy of empty drawers!! Thank you so much for all your hard work. It still amazes me how much gets done when you’re around. I would still be standing staring at things wondering what to do with them without your guiding hand, advice and common sense!”

Penny’s kitchen:

Penny lived in a flat with an open plan layout and worked from home with clients visiting to attend workshops. Her compact kitchen, which was on view to clients, was bursting at the seams.

How I helped:

  • Decluttered out of date food items e.g. herbs, cans etc..
  • Provided advice about food buying/stock control
  • Re-organised storage of cooking equipment & food
  • Organised baking ingredients & equipment into a “baking station”
  • Created streamlined and clutter free work surfaces

After I left…

Penny was thrilled with her neat, tidy and organised kitchen and felt she could cook more often as she actually enjoyed being in the kitchen again. She also felt more relaxed knowing that just a quick tidy was all that was needed when clients came over.

“I booked Organise Your House to help me as I was sick of the overflowing cupboards and ever expanding clutter that felt like it was taking over my small studio flat – it was getting out of control and although it’s been on my ‘to-do’ list for months (if not years)… Booking Ingrid was great – it’s given me the impetus to actually make some progress – she selected a small area of the flat (my kitchen) to start on for the first session and I really enjoyed the day emptying out all the cupboards, then cleaning and deciding what would go back in, and what would go to the  charity shop / bin. 4 hours, 2 bin bags and 5 bags for the charity shop later, I have a kitchen that is now completely cleared, with space on the worktops to actually use the kitchen and cupboards that I can close – it’s fantastic and a really positive start! Thank you Ingrid”

Simon’s garage:

Simon’s garage was crammed full with a mixture of items that needed decluttering, re-organising, recycling or throwing! It had been on his “to do” list for a long time and he just could not find the time to blitz it!

How I helped:

  • Sorted all items to go to the tip, hired a van to clear the rubbish
  • Organised items to be stored in clear boxes with labels
  • Clothes that needed to be stored were sealed up to protect from moisture
  • Tidied and organised all items to be stored for easy access

After I left…

Simon could finally walk around in the garage and find things easily. Now that the floor was clearer he could even use the space to complete a DIY job out of the rain or store other items from the house that are rarely used.

“I basically had amassed over 20 years of junk in our garage …which included … filing… home & office furniture/equipment…CDs/DVDs/games…my wife/baby’s clothes and unwanted toys. It was complete chaos, and was stressing me out as I knew I did not have the time (or inclination) to even start tackling this ever growing problem…. Ingrid came over to assess the situation and then came back with a plan. We set up a covered…area outside my garage and sorted everything into ordered categories…I cannot explain how much of a relief it is when you see a fully ordered garage… you can now actually use with all rubbish & recycling taken away, money making items on eBay… and everything de-cluttered.

In the process, what would have been an extremely arduous task turned out to be rewarding (The results at the end of each day are astounding) and even fun, and this is entirely down to Ingrid who I will highly recommend to anyone looking to organise their homes and working spaces.”
